This flatbed scanner use CCD as its scanning element and cold cathode fluorescent lamp as its light source. The optical resolution is good enough to accommodate office needs, with 1200 x 2400 dpi. As for the connectivity, it is equipped with Hi-Speed USB port. The scanning gradation for color documents is 48 bit for input and 24 bit for output. For greyscale documents, the gradation is 16 bit input and 8 bit output. These gradations are good enough to produce great images.
The maximum document size for CanoScan 3000 is quite limited, just like most scanners on the market, supporting only 216 x 297 mm paper size. As for the speed for both monochrome and color documents, it takes 8 msec per line for 1200 dpi and 4 msec per line for 600 dpi.
